Melodies for a While
2026
The main protagonists of this slow-paced film are abandoned or suspended spaces associated with the production, distribution, and viewing of cinema in various localities across North Ossetia. The discussion of the decline of the film industry also serves as a way of pointing to the ambiguous position in which the progressive modernist project found itself in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Ignatov proposes poetic ways of establishing new relations with this project in response to the need to reinvent the links between past and future. The abandoned spaces are brought to life by two visiting musicians playing the uadynz, traditional Ossetian flutes.

The Arlberg Railway
1906
In 1906, the Arlberg Railway, which connects the Austrian cities of Innsbruck and Bludenz, is the only east-west mountain railway in Austria. This 340-second "ghost railroad ride" shows the view from the back of a train, though I'm not sure if it's heading east or west. This kind of film, in vogue at the time, is an intermediate form of short reality, which often showed a train engaging in a bend, and a feature documentary. Its editing is live, linear and temporal, and the cuts are very apparent. Indeed, the choices of where to place the cuts seem to have avoided the less populated stretches. There are plenty of buildings to see, even when the train is not at the station.

The Cripple Effect
Movie
Wisconsin has a remarkable heritage with trains, and is looking at an even more promising future. However this future is now in jeopardy as larger modern trains continue running over an aged rail system that was never designed for this type of weight. The result, a dramatic decrease in speed and increase in derailments costing the railroad thousands of dollars every year! Wisconsin & Southern Railroad has developed a multi-year rail upgrade plan. This plan will replace the aged rail network with new heavier track capable of handling the growing demands of Wisconsin's rail future.

The Cumbrian Coast
1997
One of the least well-known areas of Britain, we travel to the Cumbrian Coast by means of two different trains. Firstly, we board a North West Regional Railways Express (class 156) which traverses the former Furness Railway via Grange-over-Sands and Ulvertston to Barrow-in-Furness. There we change to a class 153 for the most scenic section of the route along the coast from Bootle to Maryport, filmed in what can only be described as 100% perfect weather - not a cloud in the sky! Apparently you only get one day a year like that along the coast and we were there! As signalling expert David Allen says in his script; "this line is a mecca for semaphore signalling enthusiasts". Filmed in 1997.

The Heroes of the Massacre River
2025
The Heroes of the Massacre River is a powerful documentary that chronicles the stories of the pioneers behind the construction of the historic Canal of Ouanaminthe, a project that united Haitians across the nation and the diaspora. This film celebrates the groundbreaking efforts of key figures, centering on Dr. Bertrhude Albert, Dr. Naismy-Mary Fleurant, architect Wideline Pierre, economist Etzer Emile as well as dedicated canal workers Milourie Sylfrard, Theodore Johnson and Joseph Pressoir — all guided by the investigative journey of Max Angie Clervil. It also serves as a commentary on the complexity of colonialism and borders, tracing the role that the Massacre River continues to play in the history of Ayiti.
