Frédéric Bruly Bouabré: L'universaliste
Directed by Philippe Lespinasse
Filmed in 2009 in his house at his little drawing table Frédéric Bruly Bouabré allows us to get as close as possible to the creative act. Methodical observation of clouds, spots on an orange or a cola nut, illustration of tales and legends, Bouabré's work is encyclopaedic. Born of a celestial vision that occurred in Dakar on March 11, 1948, which, he says, illuminated his life, dedicated from then on to the teaching of divine truths communicated to him in dreams. The creations of this Ivorian poet, designer, storyteller, thinker and prophet include an ingenious alphabet developed from his language, Bété. This system, made up of 449 pictograms to which syllables correspond, allows him to record the languages of the whole world.
