Môj otec Gulag
Directed by František Palonder
His first name was Jan Kawasch. His mother gave him this name on his birth certificate when he was born in Siberia. He received his second name, Jan Vrana, after his mother remarried upon returning from Russia. He received his third name, Jan Antal, from his wife. None of these names are his own. He does not know his father, nor does he know whether he was born out of love or violence. And he does not know where his homeland is... This documentary film tells the story of Jan Antal, who was born 57 years ago in a Siberian gulag to a Slovak woman who had been unjustly deported there. For the first time in his life, he visits the place where he was born and spent the first six years of his life, accompanied by his daughter. He travels to the end of the world with a single question: "Did you know my father?"
