Angelos Frantzis (Athens, 1970) is a Greek director. He was born in 1970 in Athens and studied directing at the Brussels School of the Arts. In 1990 he directed his first short film, Short Stories of People and Oranges. Three more short films followed, Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf? (1992), Nineteen (1995) and Holey World (1997). His feature film directorial debut was Polaroid in 2000. His subsequent films were The Dog's Dream (2005), Into the Woods (2010) and Symptom (2015). In 2018, his film Still River, set in Siberia, was completed. For his work on the film, Angelos Frantzis received the Best Director award at the 2019 Hellenic Academy Awards. A few months after the premiere of Still River, Angelos Frantzis directed his next film, Eftychia, which is based on the life of Eftychia Papagiannopoulou. He has also directed commercials and written articles and books about cinema.
