Zhang + Knight are a London based directing duo who create vivid films within dreamlike environments. Their unique imagery uses light and shade to construct texture rich compositions, a symptom perhaps of Zhang’s desire to be a painter in another life (Knight wanted to be an opera singer). Their video ‘Softly’ for Arlo Parks showcases their dazzling set design with a surreal cityscape unraveling before her. Promos for London Grammar, Meryem Aboulouafa and Eden have been awarded at D&AD, Creative Circle and Kinsale, and Zhang + Knight also won Best New Director at the UKMVAs in 2018. Their 2019 short film ‘Sweep Away Hungry Ghosts’ gained Official Selection at Slamdance and won them a place on the BFI Flare X BAFTA Mentorship Program.
